Everything you need to know about Sewbase — for the community and for designers.

For the community For designers

What is Sewbase?

Sewbase is a community platform for sewing enthusiasts. Discover and purchase sewing patterns, document your projects with photos and process notes, and connect with other sewists. We believe real craft speaks for itself — projects are evidence, not a popularity contest.

For the community

Private beta — invitation only

Sewbase is currently in private beta. Access is by invitation only. You can browse patterns without registering, but to join the full community you need an invitation from the team.

Once you're a member you can:

  • Document your sewing projects step by step with photos and notes
  • Build a library of patterns — free and paid
  • Join sewalongs and participate in the community forum
  • Connect with other sewists and follow your favourite designers

For designers

Sewbase is an open marketplace for independent sewing pattern designers. You set your prices, we handle the payments. Here's how it works:

1. Apply for a designer profile

If you already have an account, go to your profile page and click "Apply to become a designer". Tell us a bit about your experience and the types of patterns you create. If you're not yet a member, write to us at hola@sewbase.org and we'll set you up.

2. Create and publish your patterns

Once your designer profile is active, go to My Patterns → New Pattern. Upload a cover image and PDF files, write a description, set the language, difficulty level, and price. Patterns start as drafts — publish when you're ready.

3. Set your pricing

Patterns can be free or paid. You set the price in euros. You can also run limited-time discounts from your pattern dashboard. Paid patterns require purchase before downloading — free patterns are added directly to the buyer's library.

4. Platform commission

Sewbase charges a small commission on each paid sale to cover platform costs. The exact percentage will be communicated before your first sale — no surprises.

Free patterns have no commission.

5. Payments and payouts

Payments are processed securely via Stripe. During the current beta, payouts are managed manually and we'll contact you directly. Automated payouts via Stripe Connect are coming soon.
